Problem with Install

Postby martendavis » Thu May 29, 2008 11:30 am

I installed all the cgi files, etc, changed permissions, set up a database and ran the firstrun.cgi

Once I got all the fields filled out, I clicked to complete the install and I got a white screen and the links showed the firstrun.cgi http://mysite/cgi-bin/subscriber/firstrun.cgi

I can not log into the admin panel.

What should I do to complete the install?

Open up firstrun.cgi in a text editor... and uncomment (remove the #) from the following line near the top of the script:

Code: Select all
use CGI::Carp qw( fatalsToBrowser );

Then, try rerunning the firstrun.cgi script.

I tried that, now I'm getting this error:

Software error:

Can't locate common in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at firstrun.cgi line 438.

For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@pgpsale.chamade.com), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

There should be a file named "common" that resides in the same directory as subscriber.cgi. Make sure that file exists and that it has proper read permissions.

ah, that seemed to be the problem. There was no "common" file, and since it wasn't a cgi file, it wasn't uploaded with the rest.

Thanks. Lisa

Okay, now I've tested the program and there's no re-direct to a verification page. I don't see anything in the readme about that.

Where can I get the form generator plugin? thanks :)

*sigh*

I've created a test page for the script. http://www.pgpsale.com/mailing.html

When I click subscribe, I'm now redirected but the redirect page is black.

When I check the page source, the html shows the colors should be white background, blue text.

Where did I mess up this time please?

It shows me bgcolor=#000000 (black). You should be able to change this with the header variables in the admin.cgi and subscriber.cgi scripts.

I changed it everywhere I could find it. I deleted and uploaded subscriber.cgi over and over but it's still black and the source still shows it's black. I can't find where the
hex color for black as a bgcolor is.

Here's what I have:

# COLORS AND FONTS FOR PAGES THAT DO NOT HAVE THE USUAL HEADER/FOOTER
# These include the list table frame, search results, and the subscriber info pop-up.
# Feel free to change these if you want a different color scheme.
# Default colors are commented below, followed by the actual defintions of the variables.
#$bgcolor = "#FFFFFF";
#$bgtext = "#0000CC";
#$alink = "#F90000";
#$vlink = "#A5000";
#$link = "#A50000";
#$pagefont = "verdana";
#$pagefontsize = "-1";
#$table_bgcolor = "#FFFFFF";
#$tableheader_bgcolor = "#ffffff";
#$tableheader_font = "verdana";
#$tableheader_fontcolor = "#FFFFFF";
#$tr_color1 = "#FFFFFF";
#$tr_color2 = "#DDDDDD";
#$tr_fontcolor1 = "#000000";
#$tr_fontcolor2 = "#000000";

$bgcolor = "#FFFFFF";
$bgtext = "#0000CC";
$alink = "#F90000";
$vlink = "#A5000";

I decided to view the subscriber.cgi that was uploaded. The code is identical

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

# UNCOMMENT THIS (REMOVE THE # IN FRONT OF use) IF YOU'RE GETTING SERVER ERRORS
# IT WILL GIVE YOU MORE FRIENDLY ERROR MESSAGES IF YOUR SERVER HAS THE MODULE (WHICH IT REALLY SHOULD...)
use CGI::Carp qw( fatalsToBrowser );

Admin.cgi is also correct.

I'm lost :(
